God Is Still Speaking

This song is particularly poignant to my church family because it speaks of the many wider missions we are involved with. I was inspired to write it during the United Church of Christ’s “God Is Still Speaking” initiative campaign.

God is still speaking to you
God is still speaking to me
In the work that we choose
Through the life that we lead
God is still holding our hand
God is fulfilling His plan
God is still speaking
But are we still listening
‘Cause all that we do He will see.

In our hope
Through our dreams
In our strength
In our need
God is still speaking
Through the songs in our heart
And through the praises we sing
In the words that we say
In the prayers that we pray
When people are hurt
Because of their color or race.

Lord, give us a listening ear
And receptive minds we pray
Help us to spend time with you
Refreshing us every day
To open our hearts
To wait for your word
To be not afraid
As we walk through the darkness
Into the light.

God is still speaking
God is still holding our hand
Giving youth a foundation to stand
In the world they may drown
Without you around
Lord, use us, as you will command.

God is still speaking to you
God is still speaking to me
God is fulfilling His plan
In the hungry and homeless we feed.

To the shut-ins, the aged and weak
From the hills of Kentucky
To our friends overseas.

God is still speaking
But are we still listening
‘Cause all that we do He will see.
